This paper presents the main trends in Al-Shafi'i's approach, which were divided between studies, praises, and trials. It proposes an alternative approach based on reading, comparing and analysing his texts, and understanding them in the light of the historical context. It focuses on two issues: First: the impact of his work and his theorizing the rules of reading texts in multiplicity and difference (the textual context and historical context as a model). Second: his position on non-Muslims, Jihad, and his worldview through his texts. The paper concludes that the results of analysis Al-Shafii's texts are against the common rulings attributed to him.
