The Moroccan Educational System in the Midst of Revolutions in Technology and Values

Schools in Morocco were dramatically affected by the global information technology revolution which came with globalization. Tasked with equipping a new generation of Moroccans to take on the challenges of the third millennium, Moroccan schools aim to prepare students to adapt to the rapidly changing structures, by equipping them with the competencies necessary to keep pace with the accelerating, multi-faceted changes across all societal levels. In order to fulfill this mission, and keep pace with the rapidly changing globalizing world, a new comprehensive vision of global transformations in technology and values is needed for Moroccan schools. Creating such a vision requires a sensitivity to the challenges of the present, as well as the ability to forecast the needs of the future. In addition, a systematic approach which allows Moroccan schools to carry out their pedagogical and socioeconomic functions in harmony with the global knowledge society, in order to build a "Morocco of the Future".
