Abstract

The Third International Conference on the World of Islam: Society, History, Culture was held at the People’s Friendship University in Moscow. The conference was organized in conjunction with the Mardjani Foundation and the Institute of Asian and African Countries at Moscow University. In attendance were researchers from across the globe, notably Iran and 12 Arab states, Russia, Canada, and Europe. The Conference took place from October 28-30 in the presence of some 200 scholars. Convened every three years, the conference provides an opportunity to research current issues and prospects for development in Islamic studies. The main themes for 2014 were Islamic-Christian interaction in the history of the Middle East and Russia, and the philosophical and political thought of the Islamic world.
