Deconstructing the Epistemological and Ideological Backgrounds of AI: A Critical Approach

Volume 13|Issue 53| Summer 2025 |Articles

Abstract

The contemporary world is characterized by rapid technological evolution, with Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly Generative AI, having emerged as a profoundly transformative force impacting knowledge, society, and culture. This study critically examines AI not merely as an advanced technology, but as a potent cognitive and social "authority" capable of driving radical change in prevailing knowledge systems, social structures, and cultural paradigms. The research delves into the epistemological and ideological foundations of AI to elucidate the challenges it poses across three critical dimensions: the fundamental nature of knowledge, the relationship between the knowing subject and the object of knowledge, and the ways in which AI reconfigures societal and cultural formations. A central contribution of this paper is its emphasis on the intricate interplay between the cognitive, ideological, and technological facets of AI. The study concludes that AI is far more than an intelligent technology: it is a pervasive, interconnected phenomenon with significant cultural, social, and political ramifications. Consequently, understanding AI requires that it be placed within a comprehensive framework that integrates human experience, societal organization, economic systems, cultural narratives, meaning production, and power structures.
