The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies (ACRPS) has published the seventh issue of its peer reviewed, quarterly journal Tabayyun, a journal devoted to philosophy and cultural studies. The seventh issue of the journal includes "Rousseau in Arabic: Between Clarity and Opacity in Text" (Abdelaziz Labib), "Standard Amazigh: Between the Invention of a New Language and the Manufacturing of Ideological Illusion" (Mohammad al-Koukhi), "The Phenomenon of I'rab: Between Linguistic Conventions and Relations of Proximity" (Abdenbi Hamani), "Arabic Terms: Between Adaptation and Innovation" (Elias Yousif); "An Introduction to the Skopos Theory by Hans Vermeer and Katharina Reiss" (Lisa Rϋth), "Kamal Salibi's Historiography of Modern Lebanon and the Image of the Emir of Maan" (Wajih Kawtharani), "Narration as an Object of Cultural Studies" (Driss el-Khadraoui).

This issue's from the library section includes Ibn Khaldun's "On Arabic Linguistics and Language as an Artificial Faculty". The Book Reviews section features Rami Abu Shihab's "Language and History: Which One is Betraying the Other?(Review of Empires of the Word: A Language History of the World by Nicholas Ostler)", Walid Noueihed's "History Knowledge in the West-Philosophical, Scientific and Literary Approaches of History" by Qais Madi Ferro, Hani Awwad's La pensée communicationnelle, édition augmentée" by Bernard Miège, and   Ziad Muna's German Orientalism during the Age of Empire-Religion, Race and Scholarship by Suzanne L. Marchand".  In closing, the seventh issue of Tabayyun includes a report on the Conference entitled "Changing Perspectives in Old Testament Studies: Past, Present and Future, under the Patronage of the Faculty of Theology at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark from October 9-12, 2013.
