The Palestinian Feminist Novel Writes Back

Volume 10|Issue 40| Spring 2022 |Articles

Abstract

This article studies the problematic relationship between orientalist Western feminist discourse and alternative Palestinian feminist discourse by highlighting and juxtaposing the representations of Palestinian women in both discourses. The approach draws on a critical analysis of the Palestinian feminist novel, bringing forth the mechanisms lying behind the representations of Palestinian women in some local creative works that constitute a counter-discourse to what is engendered in orientalist Western feminist texts.
