Abstract

It is rare to come across a book which grips the reader from its very beginning, but Ahmad Taleb’s Palestinian Periodicals Published in Lebanon from 1948 to 2014: a Bibliographic Study is one such title. This review will attempt to give a reading of this unprecedented book, which covers an important aspect of the Palestinian presence in Lebanon. A previously thriving Palestinian publishing scene left a special imprint on the Arab-Israeli conflict, a conflict which itself has been decisive in forming the modern Middle East. The periodicals selected for the book offer a meticulous, immediate account of the Palestinian struggle in one of its most tense fronts in the conflict with Israel. Taleb’s work offers an invaluable treasure to researchers looking to understand the Middle East, particularly from a Palestinian perspective.
