Abstract

This research seeks to critically examine the most important transformations of literary theory and interpretation across different stages. This study traces literary theory from its positivist roots to its arrival at cultural studies. Here literary theory takes on post-structural interpretations by putting the texts in their socio-historic contexts. This concept of worldliness reveals the cultural practice inherent to the writing and the relationship between knowledge and power.
